My name is Al Johnson, I’ve been into internet marketing for about 10 years.
I live in Las Vegas, When I got out of the military I was young and didn’t really know what a recession was. I just knew that I had to find a job. I grew up in Southern Cal in the 70′s doing all the cool things like skateboarding pools, surfing, all the things California is known for. So when I got out of the army I figured it would be an easy task to find a job. SURPRISE! There was absolutely nothing to be found anywhere. I remember traveling to Las Vegas with my folks in the 60′s even though I don’t remember it really well. I always wanted to go back as I got older but never did. I couldn’t find a job in California and I was young and adventurous. So I packed a duffel bag and caught a ride with one of those free shuttle buses going to Las Vegas. I knew my luck was going to be good because I won all three of the bingo games we played on the ride north.
When I got her to Las Vegas I immediately began to gamble, I even got lucky the first time. That, as I know today was the worst thing that could have happened. When you win the first time out you get cocky and over confident which is what contributed to my demise. I really like the action on the tables but it didn’t last long and either did my money. Broke and stuck on the street not wanting to ask for money from my parents. I had always watched the dealers with facination and awe. I would always think, wow that must be great job. I figured it can’t be that hard to do so I bought a book about craps and learned everything I could about the game. Then somehow I obtained a dealers guide to craps. I memorized both books, drew a craps table layout on a piece of cardboard and began to practice. I didn’t have any chips so I also made chips from a cardboard box. I sure wish at the time I could have cashed in a few because I was hungry and cold, well as cold as I could be in May. By the way I was working sometimes on day jobs, there werent as many homeless back then and I didn’t even feel homeless anyway. When I felt I was good enough to be a dealer I walked downtown to the El Cortez Casino and asked for an audition. Why the El Cortez? Because at that time it was one of the two casinos you had to work in before you could move to the strip. I guess I was good enough because they hired me to start that night which was on Thank giving day.
Craps was easy for me to learn and then later I also learned roulette and 21 by practicing on my time off. Down the road I even learned to deal poker but by that time working opportunities in Las Vegas had deteriorated and besides I was burned out from working in the casinos. After 15 years I just didn’t want to do it anymore and I was looking for something else.
I started an auto detail business after deciding not to work the casinos anymore. This was during the housing boom in Las Vegas so I had plenty of rich clients to choose from and my business grew. I sold it a few years later for a pretty good profit and began to pay serious attention to my online interests.
Through out the ten years I’ve been online I was most interested in SEO but I wanted to learn everything. The problem is that there is just too much to learn and I spent most of my time reading and practicing. When I was younger I made mistakes like not paying attention in school. Because of this I lack some of the fundamentals like english, spelling, math, science. Actually everything I should have learned in school I’m having to learn again as I go.
I’m self taught in most everything I do and when it comes to seo I’ve paid attention to the white hat croud. That means I won’t do anything to endanger you site from showing up in the search engines. I won’t use any tricks to get the rankings because in the long run they will catch up to you. So that’s my story.
